Organic – homemade – skincare

“You shouldn’t use anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat” Makes a lot of sense when you think of it. Our skin is our largest organ and it helps us get rid of toxins and still many of us never even consider what’s in the products that are meant to clean and moisturize this precious part of us. I decided to throw out my facial products that I used and use ingredients that I easily found either in my kitchen or in one of my local stores. I don’t use a lot of products so the things I exchanged was, face wash, toner, peeling and face(body)cream.
This works just as good for men as for women.

Facewash
: I changed my foaming cleanser to Coconut oil. And as far I I’m concerned it has been really good for me.  My skin feels softer, it’s clearer, healthier and more moist. Some people uses castor oil together with their choice of oil ut since I didn’t I can’t tell you if its beneficial. Can you really clean with oil? Doesn’t your face get all shiny and oily? nope, the thing is that some fats actually resolve each other and that is the case here. The coconut oil resolves dirt, makeup, draw out toxins and helps the body reproduce its own important oils that helps your skin. Yes, you read it right, the oil does all this. How to do it? You will need organic coconut oil and a small towel (wash cloth) For best result, do this in the evening before you go to bed. I take 1 – 1,5 tablespoons of coconut oil and warm it in my hands then I firmly massage it onto my face neck and décolletage. I do not use too much pressure, just making sure that the oil really gets into my skin to start the process of cleaning. After massaging for a few minutes I pure really hot water on the towel and wrench it, then I put the warm towel over my face for a couple of minutes, this gives a steaming effects and helps the oil to really draw toxins from the pores. After that I use the towel to wipe away the oil, very gentle, no scrubbing.  Then I rinse the towel and repeat the steaming process one or two times more. the face feels amazing afterwards and the best part is that you really don’t need any face cream. All though some people feel dry after the steaming and then I suggest you use the same kind of oil that you cleaned your face with. It’s up to you if you want to do this every day, I do it at least once a week, I don’t use makeup very often and also the skin gets a chance to balance itself.

Toner: I wasn’t much of a toner-user before (didn’t like that they contained alcohol most of the time) but I felt that in the morning (especially the day after oil cleaning) it felt good to refresh with something else than a cold face wash. So, I turned to Apple Cider Vinegar. ACV is very close to our skins own natural pH and it does not harm the thin ‘shield’ that our skin produces to keep safe, they simply corporate perfect together. Many of the products you can buy is on the alkaline scale and when it comes to our skin we should use products that don’t erupt the acidic protection against bacteria and other things on daily basis. How to use it: You need Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (Make sure to look at the bottle, if there is lumps on the bottom you have found a good one, buy it!) a small jar and/or a cotton pad. Shake the ACV bottle, put 1 tablespoon ACT in the jar and add 1,5 tbsp water. Put the lid on and shake it. Poor some on your cotton pad (it shall be wet from the solution)  If you are using only the cotton pad, pour water on it and then add a teaspoon ACV. Now use the pad to wipe your face, soft strokes over your face, neck and décolletage. Dry carefully with a soft towel or let it air dry.

Peeling: I have been using Baking Soda (also known as bicarbonate) for a lot of stuff since a long time, also as peeling. The skin feels really soft afterwards. make sure you buy pure bicarbonate, some brands add other ingredients and then it’s not good for the skin. How to use it: I take 1-2 teaspoons of Baking soda and just pour it in my hand, add a few drops of water and carefully mix it, using your hands, to a creamy mess. Then I apply it to the face, neck and décolletage. I use my fingertips and move over these areas in small circles. I do this peeling one to four times a month. Always ion the morning (before ACV if I use it that day) I have used the new cleanser and toner, Coconut oil and ACV for 30 days and I really feel a difference. I can recommend you to try this too. And have in mind, it takes your skin some time to rebalance so don’t switch cleanser and other products after a few days of trying them, that can make your skin really stressed. Be nice and give yourself lots of love. Remember to keep your body hydrated. Your skin hydrates from the INSIDE, so drink water, pure water no carbonated water, still, pure water.
